Information

Each Storyteller session will see a story be brought to life before your very eyes. Our own magical Storyteller will lead the children (aged 3-5yrs) in drama activities which will get them all moving and using their imagination. They may be out for a walk in the snow, tramping through a jungle or even exploring an old attic. Whatever they are doing, along the way they will have lots of different tasks to complete, like putting on their winter clothes, chopping back some trees or dusting off the treasures from the attic. Each adventure will have lots of opportunities for different actions and these in turn will lead the children to some of their old favourite rhymes and songs. Having gathered up lots of ideas for their story the children will then ask Onion, our very special Story Finder (who is actually a rather beautiful puppet, but please don't tell the children, they believe he is real!!!) to choose a story using all their ideas. Only then will a book come out, as a finale to this epic adventure! The Storytellers are FREE sessions (donations welcome)

The Storytellers was established to run along side The Story of The Month initiative. Story of the Month was established by FUSIONS Bute and Cowal in partnership with Dunoon Library and Information Services. The idea being that families would be able to access free activity sheets inspired by a different book every month of the year. Multiple copies of each book were available at the local library and 'Story of the Month' members had priority on borrowing these copies. It is now hoped that this project should be rolled out to the rest of Argyll and Bute. Helensburgh Bounce and Tickle were able to see the huge benefit that this project would bring to children in our area. We are hoping to help develop this project by demonstrating to parents and carers how they can bring the stories to life.

The aim of The Storytellers is to advance the education and development of young children with an emphasis on using drama, nursery rhymes, songs, story telling, movement and play.

In doing so we seek :
